Anyways, the only complaint (It wouldn’t be a post without a complaint, right?) i have is that the employees there aren’t too friendly or personable. I came in there once because i spent a chunk of change on this watch necklace and it wasn’t working. I asked the employee for help and they kind of just shrugged it off, didn’t even try to help. Resentment.

It was my first time ever going into the store, and i’ll tell you now, if i ever needed a tent, a sleeping bag, or anything outdoorsy then i would definitely return again. The service is nice, and knowledgeable. The only real complaints i had were that the store was way overcrowded with stuff, making it very overwhelming at times. And the second would be that they only had two cash registers, and like 20 people in line. But other than that, it was a neat store; they even had a simulated rock trail to test your hiking boots on… i thought that was pretty cool. So yeah, not much to write. They have everything you would expect… hats, clothing, men’s outerwear, women’s outerwear, first aid supplies, biking gear, books, knives and tools, travel gear, lanterns etc etc etc.

Babe. in Baltimore

Here is another boutique i’ve stumbled upon recently called Babe. (a boutique) that’s located in the Federal Hill Neighborhood in Baltimore, MD. Why should Babe be on the top of YOUR (and mine) priority list? Well for one, this boutique is affordable. As stated on the website, the creator and owner Lisa Ponzoli established this small boutique to provide fabulous items for not-so extravagant prices. According to their statement, “Almost everything in the store is under $200.” This is a new change of pace; most boutiques i know are verrrry pricey. But then again, that still could be expensive… like if a shirt costs… let’s say $150, well that would be completely different than if a pair of jeans cost $150.

To be honest, i haven’t visited this store yet but i have read a lot of rave reviews about it in several local magazines and popular magazines as well. Babe. has garnered much praise from magazines like Baltimore Magazine, Marie Claire, Washingtonian, Style Magazine, and even Lucky for her affordable cutting-edge fashion, premium denim, and her selection of up-and-coming designers such as Miss Me, Zoa, Hazel, Hype, Frenzii, Matty M, Taxi CDC and BCBGeneration.

Urban Chic in Georgetown DC

I recently stumbled upon this trendy little boutique called Urban Chic in Bethesda, and i’m glad i did! This high-end store that’s located in Georgetown, Annapolis, Baltimore, AND Bethesda is home to a wide selection of stylish designer clothing… unfortunately, the prices don’t come cheap, and definitely can cost you a pretty penny… or two. But if you have the money to spend (unlike i do) you can enjoy items from a bunch of fancy, schmancy designers such as Tibi, Diane Von Furstenburg, Rebecca Minkoff, Shoshanna, Yumi Kim, Theory, and Marc by Marc Jacobs, and denim name brands such as 7 For All Mankind, Paige Premium Denim, William Rast, Hudson, J Brand, and Citizens of Humanity. And another thing, if you have a child and would like to waste your money on name brands for your kid, you can choose from designers like Splendid Girl, True Religion, Splendid Littles, Lacoste, Juicy Baby, and Ella Moss Girl… God knows why anyone would dress their kid in True Religion’s…

ANYWAYS, they do offer a lot of sale opportunities if you are looking for something a little cheaper, and perhaps, (sometimes) 40% off. There is a reason Bakers has been apart of Montgomery Mall since my mom was a teenager, it’s a great store that sells  trendy and fashion-forward shoes and offers some name brands such as Steve Madden, Guess, Blowfish and Dr. Martens. AND, since the chilly months are not too far away, they are starting to display their Fall collection… which is all about boots!… leather boots, studded boots, lace-up boots, rugged boots, combat boots… You name it. Now that you know the go-to place for boots, the only question that remains is… which pair will YOU choose? Don’t ask me, i’m still struggling with that question myself…

We all know that D.C is like the fashion capital of the D.C, Maryland, Virginia tri-state area. The streets of Friendship Heights, Georgetown, and Downtown D.C are full of the hustle and bustle of trendy streetwalkers walking to and from their destinations… So what does that mean? We all know that jeans come in every color, wash, and fit imaginable BUT you just need to know where to look. Looking for denim in the classic navy? what about red? or NEON yellow? Then i would probably hit up the Juniors section of Macy’s, or perhaps, Forever 21 and Brass Plum in Montgomery Mall, Bethesda. But what about the wash? You know where it fades in certain places like on the thigh or the butt, or another way to put it… How distressed it is? Usually all stores carry a variety of washes: for example, Lucky Brand Jeans carries an assortment of options– from jet black to white and everything in between. You can even go to their website and search your perfect pair by wash.

But out of all the ways jeans can be sorted (color, wash and fit), i believe finding the right fit is the most daunting task known to women. FIT is not as simple as it seems. Yes, they make it easy by usually sorting the jeans in 4 basic categories (skinny, straight, wide, and bootcut) but those are just words. I don’t know one girl who can go into a store, pick out her size and preferred style, and leave (and remain) happy with their choice. All jeans are made differently. Men have it easy– they can grab any pair of baggy pants, throw on a belt and be good to go. As women, we like our jeans form-fitting (unless your going for the boyfriend jean look), but THIS is why jean shopping is so dreaded and avoided. It is hard to find denim pants that fit and hug our bodies perfectly. But don’t give up! As fashion-savvy women of the D.C/Maryland/Virginia area, we crave that perfect fit. So where to look? Brass Plum is a neat little open store full of trendy (I can’t say that enough) shirts, tops, dresses, denim, bottoms, and accessories that are affordable… I would go as far to say that BP is like a cheaper version (hard to believe) of Urban Outfitters; their clothes have a bohemian/hip/young feel. Plus, if you are ever with a boyfriend, a parent, a sibling or even a friend who is uninterested in their apparel, get them out of your hair and sit ‘em down on the pink, circular couch at the back wall of the store in front of their giant, screened TV to watch some music videos. And if you are trying on clothes, there is a comfy little lounge area for them to enjoy as well.

Lush in Montgomery Mall Bethesda

The other day, a couple of my friends and i decided to stop by Lush in Montgomery Mall, Bethesda: this was my first time ever, and definitely not my last. Upon entering, i was immediately bombarded with a whole variety of scents and smells, and overwhelmed (in a good way)  by the wide selection of soaps, those fizzy bath bomb things, facial  cosmetics, lotions, hair products, and fragrances…. and everything looked so yummy! Sometimes i had trouble believing that this bubble bath bar was soap rather then some gourmet treat or that the bowls to the right were in fact facial scrubs and masks, and not some delicious spread that you put on toast… or that you eat just plain.

And not only are their cleverly-named products pleasing to the senses, but they are also pleasing to your conscience- everything is handmade from fresh vegetables and fruits, essential oils, and safe synthetics.  Also, they are proud to say that their products are not tested on animals, and contain little to no preservatives or packaging. So basically, skip Sephora, you got all your body and facial needs in this compact, little store called Lush that are good for you and good to the environment. What more can you ask for?
