Rockville Shopping: Check Out Trendy Rockville Fashion at Cloud 9 in Rockville Town Center

One of the many stores that Rockville Town Center has to offer (and the only clothing store for young women) is Cloud 9, a little boutique between Giffords and Five Guys. If you are ever in the mood to indulge, Cloud 9 carries a wide variety of moderately-priced casual dresses, some evening dresses, some jeans, Free People (!!!!!!!!!!!!), cute blouse-y tops, and a small selection for guys. The one thing i would definitely recommend above all else is their jewelry section near the cash register. They have a pretty nice selection of costume jewelry like long, dangle chains with pendants, bracelets, earrings, headbands, purses, wallets, sunglasses and more. The style of jewelry is very similar to the jewelry sold in Brass Plum, Forever 21, and Urban Outfitters— bohemian, young, and hippy-ish.

To give you an idea, I COULD see these being sold in Cloud 9:

Anyways, the only complaint (It wouldn’t be a post without a complaint, right?) i have is that the employees there aren’t too friendly or personable. I came in there once because i spent a chunk of change on this watch necklace and it wasn’t working. I asked the employee for help and they kind of just shrugged it off, didn’t even try to help. Resentment.

Baltimore Shopping: Babe. — A Trendy Boutique for Baltimore Shoppers

Babe. in Baltimore

Here is another boutique i’ve stumbled upon recently called Babe. (a boutique) that’s located in the Federal Hill Neighborhood in Baltimore, MD. Why should Babe be on the top of YOUR (and mine) priority list? Well for one, this boutique is affordable. As stated on the website, the creator and owner Lisa Ponzoli established this small boutique to provide fabulous items for not-so extravagant prices. According to their statement, “Almost everything in the store is under $200.” This is a new change of pace; most boutiques i know are verrrry pricey. But then again, that still could be expensive… like if a shirt costs… let’s say $150, well that would be completely different than if a pair of jeans cost $150.

To be honest, i haven’t visited this store yet but i have read a lot of rave reviews about it in several local magazines and popular magazines as well. Babe. has garnered much praise from magazines like Baltimore Magazine, Marie Claire, Washingtonian, Style Magazine, and even Lucky for her affordable cutting-edge fashion, premium denim, and her selection of up-and-coming designers such as Miss Me, Zoa, Hazel, Hype, Frenzii, Matty M, Taxi CDC and BCBGeneration.

Babe. offers a variety of tops, premium denim, accessories, bags, and even candles and frames.

Make sure to check out the “events” section on her website to see when Babe. is hosting sale events and parties!

DMV Shopping: Urban Chic in Georgetown, Annapolis, Baltimore or Bethesda– Trendy Boutique

Urban Chic in Georgetown DC

I recently stumbled upon this trendy little boutique called Urban Chic in Bethesda, and i’m glad i did! This high-end store that’s located in Georgetown, Annapolis, Baltimore, AND Bethesda is home to a wide selection of stylish designer clothing… unfortunately, the prices don’t come cheap, and definitely can cost you a pretty penny… or two. But if you have the money to spend (unlike i do) you can enjoy items from a bunch of fancy, schmancy designers such as Tibi, Diane Von Furstenburg, Rebecca Minkoff, Shoshanna, Yumi Kim, Theory, and Marc by Marc Jacobs, and denim name brands such as 7 For All Mankind, Paige Premium Denim, William Rast, Hudson, J Brand, and Citizens of Humanity. And another thing, if you have a child and would like to waste your money on name brands for your kid, you can choose from designers like Splendid Girl, True Religion, Splendid Littles, Lacoste, Juicy Baby, and Ella Moss Girl… God knows why anyone would dress their kid in True Religion’s…

ANYWAYS, they do offer a lot of sale opportunities if you are looking for something a little cheaper, and perhaps, (sometimes) 40% off. If that is the case (and i don’t see why it wouldn’t), check out their events section on their website to find out when the next host sale or designer trunk show will take place.

D.C Fashion: What to Wear for a Night Out in D.C?

Have plans for a night out? Perhaps a play at the Kennedy Center? maybe a dinner date at one of the many tasty, Georgetown restaurants? Or some live music at the National Gallery of Art? Or maybe you plan to spend the evening window-shopping the many stores off of Wisconsin Avenue in Friendship Heights? Whatever it is, you need an outfit that is appropriate for the occasion, and not to mention, cheap cheap cheap.

We all know that D.C is like the fashion capital of the D.C, Maryland, Virginia tri-state area. The streets of Friendship Heights, Georgetown, and Downtown D.C are full of the hustle and bustle of trendy streetwalkers walking to and from their destinations… So what does that mean? Well that means we must look the part! And besides, dressing up, i think, is part of the whole going-out experience. Here are a few styles that i recommend:

Forever 21 in Montgomery Mall is the perfect place to look!

1: Get this look for approx. 80 bucks!

2. Get this Stylish and Chic D.C outfit for roughly 90 dollars!

3. Get this for almost 67  bucks!

As you can see, florals and lace are the big trends right now. Among friends of mine and seen around the D.C area, the pairing of a high waist skirt or short is also very IN as well.

Happy Bethesda shopping!

Bethesda Shopping: Get Your Bethesda Shopping Fix at BP in Nordstrom Montgomery Mall

The Nordstrom in Montgomery Mall Bethesda is pretty limited in its selection of clothes. The Bethesda department store consists of three floors: the top floor houses all the designer brand names such as Juicy Couture, Free People (!!!!!), Michael Kors, and True Religion Jeans, the middle floor holds your cosmetics and jewelry, women’s shoes, men’s shoes and fashion, and the first floor contains women’s underwear, some women’s clothing, children’s clothing and shoes, a food cafe (random), and a Juniors section or brand (or whatever it is considered as) called BP or Brass Plum. Basically, here is where you will find Bethesda fashion for young women and teens for an affordable price. In one section, they sell trendy, name-brand shoes such as gladiators and wedges in the Spring and Summer, and now, as of recently, an assortment of boots, oxfords and flats for Fall. And then, after you get your shoe fix and want a matching outfit, you can head over to BP apparel just a few steps away.

Brass Plum is a neat little open store full of trendy (I can’t say that enough) shirts, tops, dresses, denim, bottoms, and accessories that are affordable… I would go as far to say that BP is like a cheaper version (hard to believe) of Urban Outfitters; their clothes have a bohemian/hip/young feel. Plus, if you are ever with a boyfriend, a parent, a sibling or even a friend who is uninterested in their apparel, get them out of your hair and sit ‘em down on the pink, circular couch at the back wall of the store in front of their giant, screened TV to watch some music videos. And if you are trying on clothes, there is a comfy little lounge area for them to enjoy as well.

Bethesda Shopping: High-End and Quality Bethesda Shopping at National Jean Company

Ever gone to the Häagen-Dazs in Downtown Bethesda and wondered what was hidden inside the small, cozy store on the corner? And haven’t had a minute to walk inside and check it out? Well that little shop is known as the National Jean Company. Here, let me save you a trip…. The Bethesda store sells very trendy and stylish tops, but don’t expect to find anything unique or one-of-a-kind in the store (they do sell PJs that are colorful though in the back…). The tops are generally basic and neutral-colored, and the structure is what’s up-to-date. For instance, i was recently in there, and they sold a bunch of knit shirts, burnout tees, tunics and Dolman tops which seem to be what’s “in” right now. And besides tops, they obviously sell designer jeans such as 7 for All Mankind, Hudson, Citizens of Humanity and a few others in the store, some pairs of overpriced shoes, and a small selection of costume jewelry. Unfortunately, you can’t really get a feel of their selection in the actual store (probably due to lack of space) but only on their official website. I would never suggest buying jeans online though.

All in all, i like the store in Bethesda, and could see myself in a bunch of their clothes, i just have one complaint… it’s VERY expensive! Shirts that are so basic that can EASILY be bought in an Urban Outfitters for half the price are running for 80-100 bucks… ridiculous? i know. Don’t bother going in there if you don’t have at least a hundred to blow; it’s heartbreaking to walk in there, see a bunch of stuff you like to then find out it costs a whole paycheck’s worth. Bleh.

Target Rockville, DC, Wheaton… WHEREVER– Not a Place for Clothes

We all know that Target wherever it may be… Rockville Pike, Veirs Mill Road, (not Bethesda yet) Silver Spring…. is a magical place full of anything and everything you desire such as home appliances and furnishings, make up, jewelry, electronics, kids’ toys, FOOD and all for a discounted price… And we all know that Target has a pretty hefty clothing selection for women and men at the front and second floor of the store… but did you know that these clothes aren’t worth a dime? I’m not talking about how you can get a whole new wardrobe for a 100 bucks… because that is awesome but it is not what i’m complaining about. It’s the fact that yes, you can get a whole bundle of clothes for a cheap price, but what good does any of that do if the clothes don’t fit the human body correctly and will just fall apart after a few wears and trips in the washing machine?

After trying on a number of clothes over the years at Target, i have come to the realization that the people that make the clothes or design them or whatever is not familiar with the shape of a woman’s body. For instance, you will try on a shirt that’s too tight in the wrong spot and too loose in another, or like the seam where the sleeve and body of the shirt connect is half way down your arm or you will try on a pair of pants in the size that you are normally and the crotch of the pants will be too low (not purposefully) and the waist will be smaller, and the legs will be shorter… and then you will try on the same pants in a different size, and all of a sudden, the fitting is completely different… the crotch could be too high and the waist too big. I understand how when you go down or up a size, the article of clothing will get bigger or smaller in certain places, but it should PROPORTIONALLY. It’s all about proportion! A woman’s waist usually is not bigger than her rear and her calves bigger than her thighs… JFSFUIJFIFSFIJFNUFNWU! rant! Basically, the point i want to get across is that it’s probably a better idea to spend a little more money on something that fits you correctly and can be worn more than a few times.

That is all.

Virginia Shopping: Why DELiA*s in Tysons Mclean, VA is on the Top of My List

Floral Dolman Top

This past year, i have recently come across this amazing store called Delia’s in Tysons Mclean, VA. It’s a cute and trendy little shop that sells very affordable items for girls and young women such as accessories, shoes, clothes, swim suits, and room decor and furnishings (room stuff is only sold on the website). I would say the style is kinda like a mix between Urban Outfitters and Free People. It keeps up with the trends and sells items accordingly. Currently, to keep up with the military, southwest boho trends for Fall… they sell a lot of florals, burnout tanks, Dolman tops (You know, the shirts that are shorter than normal.. See below), military jackets and pants, and lace-up vintage-looking boots.

Thank God for their boots… As of lately, i have been on an ongoing journey for the perfect lace-up boot that won’t break the bank. And, up to now, i have seemed to have no luck… a pair of boots on Free People averages around 200 bucks… and the boots i want? 248$… But Low and Behold, I have found a pair of similar lace-up boots at Delia’s for only 60 dollars. Talk about a $ave! Don’t think they have just boots, they also sell shoes from multiple brands such as Converse, Vans, Dr. Martens, and Rocket Dog. Nice, eh?

BOOOOTS!

And one last note, Delia’s is also a good store to check out if you’re one of those millions of women out there who aren’t a size 2 or 4. They sell some items of clothing in 2XL, sizes 17-20, and tops for those with longer torsos or a larger chest.

Bethesda Shopping: Affordable and Trendy Bethesda Shopping at Forever 21 Montgomery Mall

If you are ever in Montgomery Mall Bethesda and you must get your shopping fix, i would suggest visiting Forever XXII… not only do they have a HUGE selection of clothing, accessories, intimates, jewelry and shoes, but it is also verrrrry affordable, trendy and stylish. For instance, you can buy all these items listed below for roughly 90 bucks:

Let’s break it down:
14$ (shirt)   +   ≈17$ (Shorts)  +  ≈33$ (Vest)   +   ≈8$ (Bracelet)   +   ≈6$ (Necklace)   +   ≈12$ (Sandals) = ≈90 BUCKS

I don’t know if it’s just me, but getting a whole outfit including accessories AND shoes for under 100$ could possibly be the best feeling in the world. Great Bethesda Shopping!!
In conclusion, there is not much to say. It’s young, and hip, and a great place to get cheap, trendy clothing.

D.C Shopping: Banana Republic Friendship Heights— Perfect for Work

I know anybody around my age that walks by Banana Republic on the street of Friendship Heights or in Montgomery Mall  probably briefly looks at the display in the front, and nonchalantly, continues walking to the next store ahead. BUT little do most girls my age know, Banana Republic is a good place to shop especially for work clothes and classy outfits. You no longer have to look drab and boring in your professional setting, but chic and stylish with their line of feminine and sophisticated clothing items and accessories.

First stop on my list? Yeah you guessed it… Banana Republic. They basically have all you need… gray slacks, black slacks, cropped pants, frilly light-weight blouses, fitted button-up shirts, ruffle cardigans, trendy women’s blazers… But don’t let these brief descriptions fool you into thinking that these clothes are for older women, they definitely work for any young woman getting her first job, and starting college interviews, and what not. And the same clothes that you buy for work can also be dressed down for a casual brunch in Bethesda or dressed up for a night on the town in the Inner Harbor, Baltimore… you will really be killing two birds with one stone.
